5 things to know about me

  • I'm obsessed with the enneagram (my friends used to call it the jennyagram). I am such a 1 except for the clean house part. But the rest of it is spot on.

  • I live in Saint Paul, MN with my husband John, my two kids ages 7 and 9, and our french bulldog Gusteau (named after the chef in the movie “Ratatouille”).

  • My favorite book as a child was “The Giver” and I refuse to watch the movie because I can see it so clearly in my imagination and I can’t bear to replace that with someone else’s interpretation.

  • I used to work as a producer of a mega church and am now the Chief Content Officer for Herself Media. I also had 3 internships during college while I was studying Psychology and Writing - two of which led me to New York City and provided me with a non-terrible anecdote about me and Matt Lauer!

  • I wrote a book about my own antiracism journey that I’ve been on for the last 20 years. I wrote with the mantra “we impress through our perfection but we connect through our flaws.” I wrote it for YOU - the you who looks at the world and wants to make it more just and looks at your family and wants to end cycles of White silence and inaction and violence and looks at yourself and wants to heal and imagine a better way than the one you’ve been handed. I wrote it because I am raising White children and I don’t want us to just pass on the mess of a racist society to them without trying to clean it up a bit ourselves. And I wrote it to let the lessons I’ve learned over the years go beyond my life and interact with yours -  I can’t wait for you to read it.

I’m so thankful you are here!

The Next Question

I am so honored to be a co-host on The Next Question, along side Austin Channing Brown, and Chi Chi Okwu. The Next Question engages leaders, activists, creatives, and thinkers imagining how expansive racial justice can be. These in-depth conversations have become the groundswell for book clubs, reading homework, discussion groups, and more.
